Engagement with the African Union

The African Union is a platform that plays an important role in international cooperation. It was created by Africans for realization of social, economic, political and cultural rights of Africans and to tackle to tackle common challenges faced by member states. Its vision is for a peaceful, prosperous and integrated Africa for all. Although the African Union has a long history around decolonisation and liberation struggles of various African countries, it now plays a leading role in championing the development of African states.

Through its continent’s strategic framework Agenda 2063 that aims to deliver on goals of inclusive and sustainable development, the African Union and is an exhibition of the pan-Africanism drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.

GLAFADs will work to ensure the key African Union flagship programmes boost Africa’s economic growth and development. However, much attention will be given to the African Union Development Agency (AUDA) formally New partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) and other agencies housed in South Africa. The organisation will engage the African Union Civil Society Division for its lobby and advocacy activities.
